NorthStar Yachts, a small yacht company in Kalama Ore., moved its production to China to lower labor costs. About seven employees of NorthStar will remain at the headquarters and parts warehouse. The company laid off 60 employees.

NorthStar makes luxury boats 80 to 125 feet long, which sell for $6 million to $13 million. One or two yachts are produced each year. NorthStar’s competition sells yachts for $2 million less.
