This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the complete interior upholstery category of the 2008 MFA Awards, called for the creation of functional and comfortable seating and sleeping interiors. The saloon seating was reconfigured from the original space. Fiberglass ballast tanks were built to allow the owner to sail solo. This brought a challenge to create a comfortable upholstered design for the staggered surfaces of the water tanks in a scaled-down space. PVC panels were patterned for the back cushions, along with lumbar support, by using a combination of hi- and low-poly foam with a 1-inch memory foam topper. Seat and bunk cushions were fabricated with beveled poly foam and 1-inch memory foam toppers. The accent pillows were made in soil-resistant fabrics.
