A few spots remain open for the Oct. 11 session of the Maryland Boating Career Discovery Day being presented by the Marine Trades Association of Maryland (MTAM), the Eastport Yacht Club Foundation and the Annapolis Boat Shows. The program is being offered as part of the Oct. 9-13 US Sailboat Show in Annapolis; an Oct. 18 session already is filled.

The program offers high-school students interested in working in the marine trades an opportunity to learn about the many marine-oriented careers available. Students between 13 and 18 are welcome to apply.

According to the MTAM announcement, the organization recently launched a partnership between EARN Maryland (Employment Advancement Right Now) and the Marine Trades Industry Partnership to create a workforce through a summer pre-apprenticeship program, worker training, the cultivation of an engaged employer base, and promotion of training and employment opportunities for the marine trades in Maryland.

Students interested in participating should register now.
