The 2012 Time Standards Manual is now available for download. The manual Time Standards Manual was developed in 1996 by the Marine Fabricators Association (MFA)—a division of the Industrial Fabrics Association International—to serve as a benchmark shop owners can use to set fabrication times, with which they can generate competitive labor costs. The manual is an ongoing project that will grow and change organically in response to the ever-changing marine industry.

    Number of "Passes"

Hi, I run a small fabrication shop in England (UK) and I'm a regular subscriber to your magazine. I find the TSM a very useful benchmark guide for estimating job costs. However, I have a question about the terminology with regard to the construction of some covers; it describes an optional number of "passes". Can anyone explain the meaning of this please? Thanking you in anticipation. Regards David Brindley www.amtrim.co.uk

    Passes

Hello David Passes is a term for the number of widths of fabric , so, when they say 2 passes they mean a cover or top that is 2widths of fabric wide
