This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the full exterior sailboat 27 feet and up category of the 2009 MFA Awards, was designed to maximize cockpit space and visibility, while at the same time complementing this yacht’s low and rounded lines. The client wanted a full outfitting that complemented the aesthetics of the new Beneteau with optimal space and visibility. He wanted to get away from the traditionally smaller dodgers that make for an awkward transition to the larger bimini. Because of the large beam, I constructed the bimini frame with 1 14-inch stainless steel tube and fittings for added strength and rigidity.
