PhotoModeler

The owner of the Swan 601 boat requested Custom Marine Canvas create a sunshade that didn’t look like a conventional bimini. Using the 3-D program PhotoModeler, Custom Marine Canvas took pictures from different angles. The orange stickers are distinct points for PhotoModeler. Once you take pictures, you then tell the program that orange sticker 1 in photo A is the same as orange sticker 1 in photo B. Then the program begins to build the wireframe of the bimini’s shape. Custom Marine Canvas was able to show the boat owner what the proposed design looked like without ever meeting him. He could make changes over the phone or via e-mail, and they would have the final rendering for approval before bending the first piece of steel.
