The U.S. Coast Guard sought public input on updating safety regulations on certain recreational vessels. Specifically, the Coast Guard inquired about if it should require engine cut-off switches as a standard safety feature on propulsion machinery and/or starting controls installed on recreational vessels less than 26 feet in length. It also addressed whether it should require operators of these recreational vessels to use engine cut-off switches.

The public comment period ended Sept. 6.
