Photomodeling used to achieve perfect fit for top
Custom Marine Canvas, Noank, Conn.
The cleint for this project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the tops 27’ and up category of the 2008 MFA Awards, requested shade for the cockpit that had to fully disassemble for storage. Custom Marine Canvas photomodeled the boat to send images to the owner, and he modified the design. The top has four vertical legs and no diagonal bracing. Holes were cut into the deck, and fiberglass tubes were glassed in to receive the stainless legs. The top is a combination of welds and fittings built from the e-mailed design by Custom Marine Canvas. The top was sleeved to allow disassembly. The frame met the canvas for the first time in St. Barths, where the Captain assembled the top. It was a perfect fit, thanks to photomodeling.
