Having 20 years of engineering experience and 20 years of canvas shop experience, I view frame design and construction from a unique perspective. When I design a boat top frame I understand what the boat owner needs, what the fabricator wants to do, and the dos and don’ts from an engineer’s standpoint. I understand the forces acting on a frame design, and what a fabricator can do to make a frame stronger. In my book, “Frame Design for Boat Tops—The How and Why for Optimal Design and Construction,” I explain and transfer this experience to fabricators.
