Console wing enclosure designed for off-shore fishing
Cape Canvas & Rigging, West Yarmouth, Mass.
This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the soft enclosures category of the 2009 MFA Awards, involved a center console wing enclosure designed to stand up to off-shore fishing, while remaining removable. By using concave center-mount track, eye straps, snap shackles and lacing knobs, Cape Canvas & Rigging maximized strength and ease of use. The windshield and side panels are one piece, connected with hinges. The top aft corners of the side panels are secured with snap shackles to eye straps. The wings are cut with hollowed edges and act like a sail underway, filling with air but never flapping. The wings roll up for fishing and can be easily removed and stowed, like the windshield section.
