E15 approved for additional vehicles

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the use of E15 for model year 2001-2006 cars and trucks, raising concerns from within the marine industry. According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), the use of E15 for additional on-road vehicles will increase the likelihood of misfueling for boats.

The NMMA said in a statement that the EPA hasn’t sufficiently addressed anticipated misfueling problems or ensured compatible fuels will remain available for the nation’s 13 million registered boats.

“The NMMA is very disappointed that the EPA has decided to move forward with E15 without mechanisms in place to protect consumers from confusion at the gas pump,” NMMA president Thom Dammrich said.
