The Value in Variety

You won’t find Dan Fouratt holed up in an office working on the next big idea for marine fabricators and upholsters. Instead, the director of sourcing for Trivantage, the nation’s one-stop shop for fabrics, hardware, accessories, and expertise across industries, can be found at marinas, boat shows, and customer shops taking it all in to better understand the marine applications required to meet the end user’s needs and to deliver on it.

A veteran of the textile industry, Fouratt was part of the team at Trivantage that launched the Marine Upholstery Collection, a specially selected line of products designed to provide the best selection of fabric options for any marine upholstery project. His expertise guided the development of the collection, which was created after he and his team spent months in the field listening to customer requests on how to make the selling process easier.

“The Marine Upholstery Collection is the result of listening to customers describe the unique challenges that come through their doors every day,” Fouratt said. “We learned that the need was variety: a variety of price points, features, and benefits to compare and contrast. That’s where you as the shop owner come in, as the trusted voice to guide customers to the best decision for them.”

The Marine Upholstery Collection includes:

  • Sunbrella® Horizon® – Best-in-class marine industry game-changer
  • Causeway® – High-performing fabric with unbeatable value
  • Nassimi Seaquest – Time-tested and proven
  • Nautolex® Capitano™ – High quality entry-level fabric

With a complete portfolio of options to offer your customers, presented in one easy-to-compare comprehensive sample card, there’s not a bad choice (other than not making one). Their question will be simple: what do you recommend?

“The quality of Sunbrella Horizon is second to none,” said Steven Wayne, owner of Southern Stitch Canvas & Upholstery. “The product’s thickness is the perfect balance between thick and thin that results in a fabric that cuts evenly and is symmetrical. This level of quality is especially important for large marine projects, which ensures the final project is soft to the touch and feels luxurious.”

When asked why he selected Trivantage-exclusive Causeway fabric for the upholstery, Zack Chapman, owner of Brake Marine Custom Canvas, shared that “it’s the value, and what backs it up. When I have customers looking for a great product at a great price point, Causeway is a great fit.” Causeway was a favorite to work with on their recent job due to its unique embossing, consistency, and ease of use.
