Wisconsin governor recognizes boating’s economic impact
The annual Wisconsin Governor’s Fishing Opener event was held over the May 10-12 weekend in Northwest Wisconsin in Burnett County on Yellow Lake. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers celebrated the significant economic impact of recreational boating and fishing in the state.
“This is an event that transcends politics,” said Gov. Evers in his remarks. “Fishing and anything outdoors is something that brings us all together.”
Evers acknowledged that recreational boating is not just a leisure activity, but a substantial contributor to the state’s economy. Recreational boating and fishing contributes over $8.4 billion in annual economic impact that supports 34,000 jobs at nearly 850 businesses in Wisconsin.
