Maryland governor establishes outdoor rec office

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced the state would establish an office of outdoor recreation (OREC) and the hiring of the first Executive Director, J. Daryl Anthony, according the National Marine Manufacturing Association website.

In partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Department of Commerce, the establishment of an OREC will strengthen the coordination and investment in the outdoor recreation industry in Maryland. Outdoor recreation in Maryland generates $7.1 billion annually, supports 89,000 jobs and accounts for 1.7 percent of the state’s GDP.
