Marine-glazing manufacturer Taylor Made Systems of Gloversville, N.Y., has named company veteran Al Unger as regional sales manager of the lower-Midwest and Southwest regions of the United States. He will also represent the Ameritex Fabric Systems subsidiary.

Unger started in 2004 as an engineer, working on windshield design and application in Gloversville.

“Al’s extensive knowledge of our windshield systems will suit him well in this new position of supporting our customers,” said Mike Oathout, vice president of sales and marketing, Taylor Made Systems. “His engineering background will be invaluable as he also supports Ameritex’s line of marine fabric products.”

Unger will operate out of Missouri in the near future, where he will establish a regional sales office. His clientele will include boatbuilders in Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas, down to the Gulf Coast and west to California.

In addition to framed-glass windshield technology for powerboats, Taylor Made Systems also builds manual and power-actuated doors, roofs, window systems, skylights and hatches. The company also supplies glass products for a variety of agricultural, construction, mass transit and emergency vehicle applications. Ameritex Fabric Systems, based in Bradenton, Fla., is the fabric engineering and manufacturing arm for Taylor Made Systems and supplies engineered fabric solutions for OEM boat manufacturers and the automotive industry.
