“Blue monster” covers boat in separate sections
Custom Canvas of Charleston Inc, North Charleston, S.C.
This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the full covers 27’ and up category of the 2008 MFA Awards, incorporated the “blue monster,” a full cover over the deck area, the tower and the transom. The owner requested no fasteners and to use each section separately. The bow section is held in place with straps to the bow rail, and sand bags hold down the skirt. The side pieces were weighted along the bottom edge by filling the large hem with aquarium rocks. The aft section and the removable wings were held in place with eyebolts where screws were removed from the rubrail. The transom cover zips to the underside of the flap and is held down with bungees. The tuna tower cover is held in place with bungees that go under the edge of the roof.
