New York’s finalized budget for 2009 does not include the five percent tax on boats over $200,000 included in the Governor’s original budget proposal. Aggressive opposition to the creation of the tax was expressed through letter-writing campaigns and hundreds of e-mails to Governor David Paterson from concerned boaters and marine businesses.
