Marine Institute sets November workshop

Building on the success of last fall’s marina makeover workshop, the International Marina Institute (IMI), a training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), has scheduled a second “Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience” Nov. 16–17, 2013, at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Ill.

“We had initially planned only one of these workshops, but it was so well received, we’ve chosen to offer it again,” AMI Chairman Gary Groenewold said. “AMI strives to offer training events that translate to real-world experiences, and this intense workshop really dives into marina design and maintenance so participants can return to their facilities with real, practical knowledge.”

Workshop attendees will choose one of five existing marina facilities from different parts of the United States and work in small, facilitated teams to perform a case study. The teams will then redesign those facilities, thereby increasing the participants’ overall ability to design, upgrade, and maintain marina facilities. Each group will present their findings and suggestions to the rest of the workshop participants.
