Industry News, News | September 23, 2016 | By:

In the second quarter of 2016, new registrations of traditional powerboats and personal watercraft were up 6.5 percent year over year (YOY), according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA). Registrations of powerboats and personal watercraft were up 9.7 percent year over year for the 12 months through June. Pontoon, saltwater fish and ski boat segments led with double-digit growth: up 11.5 percent, 10.3 percent and 11.1 percent respectively on a rolling twelve month (R12M) basis year over year. Larger boats (while lower volume) were also up 14.2 percent R12M YOY. For additional data from NMMA by boat type, hull material, propulsion and size going back five years, see the full report.

NMMA’s New Powerboat Registrations Monthly Data Cube has gotten an overhaul. New format features include:

  • Interactive data with dynamic charting, allowing you to customize your searches and reporting
  • Four new boat type breakouts—freshwater fishing boats, saltwater fishing boats, runabouts and yachts (33 feet and up)
  • Timelier data updated monthly
