Scout Boats has started generating renewable energy to power its manufacturing facility in Summerville, S.C. with a 592-kilowatt solar energy system. A second solar energy system will be built by Hannah Solar Government Services at the Scout facility. In the first year, the roof-mounted solar array is expected to generate 775,752 kilowatt hours of energy, which the company says is enough electricity to power 65 homes.

“At Scout, we’ve always taken great pride in not only being one of the most innovative marine manufacturers in the state of South Carolina,” said Scout Boats CEO Steve Potts. “We’ve taken great measures over the years to ensure our Summerville-based headquarters and processes are state-of-the-art, not only for our team, but our customers and community.”
