2021 U.S. powerboat sales trends stats now available

The latest retail sales trends for new traditional powerboats are now available from the National Marine Manufacturers Association statistic index. The 2021 report includes each of the four propulsion categories: outboard, sterndrive, inboard, and jet. Given challenges in the supply chain and lean dealer inventories, 2021 retail unit sales of new traditional powerboats were down 5.7%, ending the year with 218,868 units sold.

Key report insights included:

• In 2021, the market value of the traditional powerboat market surpassed $15.0 billion.
• New inboard boat sales reached a 14-year high with unit sales of 15,505 units.
• There were 188,663 new outboard boats sold in 2021, a slight decline of 5.3% from 2020.
