The Marine Fabricators Association (MFA) held its annual Marine Fabricators Conference Jan. 9-11, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. After the first day of sessions, the association hosted its annual welcome party with a costume contest aboard the USS Lexington.

Attendees were highly encouraged to dress up within the theme of “Cartoon Characters.” A variety of homemade, pajama-like and licensed costumes were on display. Rochford Supply and Sunbrella sponsored the party.

To incentivize participation, the MFA offered prizes for the top three fabricator costumes—based on voting by partygoers.

The costume contest winners were:

  • Steven Wayne, Southern Stitch Canvas & Upholstery LLC, in Gulfport, Miss., as Olaf from “Frozen”
  • Stacie and Ralph Gleason, A1A Canvas in Key West, Fla., as Papa Smurf and Smurfette
  • Vorei Frost, In Stitches Customs in Hurricane, Utah, as Cruella DeVille

The MFA announced the 2026 costume contest theme at their annual Excellence Awards dinner on the final night of the conference. Attendees can start planning for the theme “Onesies” when they register for the 2026 conference in Savannah, Ga. Conference registration will open in the summer.
