Fishing boats led 2025 recreational boat sales

National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) released its latest sales trends report for cruisers, watersports, fishing boats and trailers. This report is part of NMMA’s 2025 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract and covers retail unit sales for each category and by application.

According to the report, in 2025, the U.S. recreational boat market recorded 220,397 new powerboats sold, with fishing boats leading all categories at 77,434 units, followed by watersports boats, including personal watercraft (PWC) at 71,461 units. This is a reversal from sales trends in 2024.

U.S. boat trailer sales reached 198,452 units with market share led by trailers rated over 5,000 lbs., reflecting steady demand across both heavy- and light-duty segments.
