This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the full exterior sailboat 27 feet and up category of the 2009 MFA Awards, included an awning, sailcover and bimini for a busy, globe-trotting yacht. The awning and bimini had to be easily and quickly set up by two crew. The sailcover slides into grooves in the boom and contains integral lazy jacks. The large scale of the project and the exactness of the boat captain’s requirements were a challenge. The awning measured 35 feet by 22 feet and has to be easily deployed by two crew. The sailcover has integral lazy jacks and a multitude of features. The bimini had to be sleek to complement the lines of the boat.
