Welded frame top protects cockpit from the elements
Dockside Canvas & Upholstery, Two Rivers, Wis.
This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the tops 27’ and up category of the 2008 MFA Awards, included a welded frame top to provide protection from sun and rain for the cockpit area. The top was to be partially supported and attached to an existing stainless steel radar arch and forward hand hold on aft of cabin. The top frame was to conform to the shape of the arch. Bracing included swing arms aft and angled side arms that clamp to the angled sides of the arch and short arms with custom-made fittings, which attach to an existing forward rail, were fabricated on site. Canvas was stretched and secured under previously installed cover molding after the frame was installed.
