Unique seating features colorful contrast
Lorenzo Canvas, Pompano Beach, Fla.
This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the exterior upholstery category of the 2008 MFA Awards, involved replacing all the cockpit cushions and side coamings with new fabric, foam and plastic, and recovering the helm station seats. The old vinyl was dirty and cracking; the wood was rotted and the foam was deteriorated. The customer wanted to add color. Lorenzo Canvas suggested the turquoise with ivory piping. The color contrast makes the job look unique. The helm seats were a complex part of the project. The backrests had square cut-outs, which were tricky because the seams had to be inside the squares to make them 3-D, and the staples had to be hidden.
