Tough console enclosure provides user-friendly comfort
Mikes Marine Custom Canvas, Virginia Beach, Va.
This project, which won an Outstanding Achievement Award in the soft enclosures category of the 2009 MFA Awards, involved a three-sided center console enclosure is tough but user-friendly for impatient fishermen who want comfort while running at full speed, but also need quick access to the bow area when chasing a fish. In addition to the tight fit of the curtains around the windshield, console, and gunwales, the heavy-duty, adjustable hook straps on the door allow for all of the above. The leading edge of the doors had to attach to the solid windshield with track and continue down the console. This required several release zippers per door, plus three cutouts with flaps each.
