The goal of this project, which won a 2011 MFA Outstanding Achievement Award in the tops 27 feet and up category, was to fabricate a deluxe bimini-top with a self-supporting frame with front stanchions, aft stanchions and side grabrails. The top was designed with variable heights to maximize helm headroom, but still allow clear boom height. It also has variable widths to provide maximum weather protection, follow the cockpit shape and allow convenient access to side decks for boarding gate and other deck movement.
