Welding is the most vital and fundamental manufacturing process in the construction of ships and metal-hull boats. Attendees at the American Welding Society’s 2015 Shipbuilding Conference-slated for April 7-8 in Virginia Beach, Va.-will learn about emerging technologies in both commercial and Navy shipbuilding.

The conference will benefit designers, engineers, fabricators and suppliers who seek to increase shipbuilding innovation and competitiveness.

Among conference highlights are a technical program featuring presentations on additive manufacturing, automation and new filler metals among other topics. In addition to formal sessions, the meeting will provide opportunities to network informally with experts from academia and industry, as well as with conference participants. An exhibition showcasing products and services available to the shipbuilding industry will also be featured during the two-day conference.

Registration is $675 for AWS members, $805 for nonmembers, and includes all conference sessions, two continental breakfasts, two lunches and refreshment breaks.
