New powerboat registrations up

New powerboat registrations were up 3.6 percent on a rolling 12-month year-over-year basis according to the updated National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) New Powerboat Registrations Report. Sales of cruisers, tow boats, personal watercraft, saltwater fishing boats, freshwater fishing boats and yachts all grew, indicating expanding growth. Highlights from the report include:

• Cruisers, tow boats and outboard-propelled runabouts were up 8 to 9 percent.

• Sterndrive cruisers, personal watercraft, pontoons, yachts, saltwater fishing boats and freshwater fishing boats were up 3 to 4 percent.

• Registrations of larger boats 27 feet and greater were up 11.9 percent. Of these, growth was led by saltwater fishing boats, which were up 17.2 percent.
