Taste of IFAI Expo 2022 webinar is September 14
The Advanced Textiles Association (ATA) is presenting a free “Taste of IFAI Expo 22” webinar featuring three experts giving a short preview of their education sessions taking place at IFAI Expo in Charlotte, N.C., in October 2022. The webinar takes place on Sept. 14, 2022, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. EDT. It will feature short sessions on:
- Transitioning from Fluorocarbon-Based to Fluorine-Free Durable Water Repellents
Frank Keohan, senior technology manager, Bolger & O’Hearn, Inc., will discuss how durable water repellents (DWRs) provide many beneficial properties to textiles including resistance to rain, staining and abrasion. But many manufacturers have been transitioning to fluorine-free DWRs where possible. Attendees will learn the basics behind different repellents, regulatory issues, and the evolving technology for increasing the ecological profile of these products.
- Stop Playing the Pricing Game
Madeleine MacRae, owner and founder of Homepro Toolbox, will discuss how having confidence and ease in addressing the price and talking about your value with clients and even in marketing copy is one of the things that many people find truly difficult. This power-packed session will transform attendees’ beliefs around pricing, value and their willingness to shout their worth from the rooftops.
- Footprint Data for Climate Action
Ben Mead, managing director, Hohenstein, will discuss how specific and accurate data is essential to sustainable progress. OEKO-TEX® has developed a method for calculating the carbon and water footprint at each stage of a textile product’s life. This impact calculator is based on a two-year pilot project with in-depth research for best practices, current methods of data collection and calculation, recognized standards, proof of concept and stakeholder input. Attendees will learn how the tool was developed, how data will be continuously improved and how the system can be used.
