Middle East holds potential for New Zealand

New Zealand has found the Middle East region to hold great potential for its marine industry. Waterfront projects and increasing demand for berths and super-yachts contribute to this finding.

Dr. Trevor Matheson, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the Gulf region, believes that the Middle East’s marine industry is less impacted by the global recession. “The boating industry is experiencing a period of transition worldwide as its major markets in the United States and Europe are facing less demand for new boats,” says Dr. Matheson. “This has placed a strong emphasis on this region.”

New Zealand has a reputation for building high-quality super-yachts and innovative marine products. Three main growth sectors of New Zealand’s marine industry include new super-yacht manufacturing, equipment and hardware, and refit and servicing.
