Bimini top extends livability aboard
Mariner Canvas, New Bern, N.C.
This project, which won an Award of Excellence in the tops 27 feet and up category of the 2009 MFA Awards, incorporated strong stainless-steel framework, which supports all of the canvas. The free-standing bimini-top framework includes solar-panel supports fabricated for close tolerances with bimini height, twin backstays and mainsail boom. This bimini top includes twin backstay cutouts with no-leak socks, sailview window with inside controls for cover and full enclosure. The design includes a connector with wide-view window and dodger dimensions that provide visibility from the helm and cockpit. The design was to be sturdy, safe and functional at anchor, as well as under sail. The project was to extend livability aboard.
